But we're not content to rest on our laurels or settle into worn-out routines. Everyone is getting their work rhythm back now that the new year's novelty is wearing off. One thing is for sure: It can't be "business as usual" for anyone in 2011. The word "recession" is getting old faster than last year's number one single. We can't use it to excuse passivity. If this is going to be a better year, we will have to motivate and innovate. Here are three hot tips to get you fired up:

#1 - Use Social Media.

Social media moved the first black American president into the White House. Imagine what it can do for your business! Can you really afford not to be part of the largest ever referral database known to man?

#2 - Look the Part.

Everyone judges a book by its cover. You're not going to put your life in the hands of a guy with ripped jeans, tattoos and a purple Mohawk. No matter how many times he says, "Trust me, I'm a doctor." Your business has one shot at making an irreversible first impression. If you want to be perceived as an innovative industry leader, don't put your image into the hands of just anyone who says, "Trust me, I'm a designer."

#3 - Eat More JAM.
